The proposed intervention for Centenary Square is to re-compute the spatial organization and circulation to create a more permeable and functional
square. The primary objectives behind the proposal is to create a better connected site for pedestrians, weaving the urban fabric of the site to bring overall unity to the surrounding context to ultimately to promote a new identity and sense of place for the square.

The resulting design is a revision of the threshold that existed between the built context and the vast open space found in front of it. The scheme successfully blends the existing context into a modern proposal which itself is a functional dynamic multi-use square strengthening Centenary Square’s
Identity. This will be a catalyst for attracting more people to the area and will help promote a healthy harmonious place for the people of Birmingham.
